September 5th - 16th in NOIR Darkroom's Window Gallery
Having worked in the retail industry in the city and suburbs for most of her adult life, Vicki Clissold has observed many significant changes.
Progress and a shift in social and economic times have altered the way we go about our daily routines. Clissold has detected that we are directed away from individual shops and coaxed
toward enclose multi layered structures with little reference of their interior.
Consequently, many single fronted shops lay empty and decaying. Remnants of elegantly designed entrances just a shadow of
their former glory.
Clissold's preferred medium is oil on canvas. The flexibility of oil paints allows thick peeling layers that echo actual rendered surfaces. Each layer of paint represents the futile
labors and adversities of multiple tenants’ challenges.
